Catholic Music Sampler

This is how Veni Creator Spiritu (Come Holy Spirit) is supposed to sound. No drums. No guitars. No bad "soloist." Practicing happened....

Here are a couple that I hadn't seen before. There are many more making the rounds on Catholic blogs.

And finally, this one. The most interesting thing about this one is the probable age of the maker. Have a look. Do you think this person is ...

THIS is devotional music. Very good devotional music, but nevertheless devotional music. Catholic devotional music, but nevertheless devotional music. It is NOT liturgical music.

Summorum Pontificam!

This is the motu proprio for the Mass of 1962. It was published this morning on the Vatican Website.

Both the document and the accompanying letter are there.

Be aware of the fact that the USCCB's "translation" doesn't match the Vatican text. They apparently are playing their childish games already!

Motu Proprio Watch Continues

People are still on the Motu Proprio watch, with rumors predicting tomorrow or May 5th. However, this is completely in the Pope Benedict's hands and at his discretion.

One caution: Be careful of articles, some of which we're seeing already, trying to second-guess the pope over whether such a decision will be good for this ...

Something big is happening in Rome…..

There was a meeting of all the curia heads Saturday morning in Rome, 10AM their time. The meeting was unannounced beforehand. I don't think Pope Benedict called it to wish himself "happy birthday." Something major is about ready to happen in the next week or two, I think.
